Additional Space is needed due to:
- The current building size is inadequate to safelyhouse equipment and crews
- Our existing building is not designed to house Paramedics/EMT’s 24/7
- Expand our storage capacity so that we can house vehicles and equipment.
The Centerport Fire District has spent the last 2years studying our options. This purchase would allow us to keep all our vehicles inside and on our property. We currently have a paid paramedic 24/7with an inadequate place to house them. We’re also expanding our EMS program to have a supplemental EMT on weekdays.
We feel this acquisition will benefit not only us, but the community. The building would be rehabilitated to be in keeping with the beautiful hamlet of Centerport. The proposed bond is 1.9 million in total. The property is 1.6 million with an additional 300,000 to cover acquisition expenses and repairs.
The maximum bond cost is projected to be 90 cents per $100 of the assessed value of your property per year. This would cost the average homeowner approximately $31 a year. We presently have funds that could be used towards the bond payment that would bring the cost down to approximately $20 a year for most households.
To be eligible to vote you must be a registered voter residing in the Centerport Fire District.
